Have you ever wished to woo a cat or a rabbit? Have you ever got so attached to them that they turn into men? Have you ever work so hard to get them to like you only to be screw over in the end by the fact that your beauty and art skill was crap?! WELL THAT IS DANDELION – WISHES BROUGHT TO YOU! OH GOD WHY!?!?!?
It may look like I’m clearly upset about this game. It’s true. I am. I just want to woo one animal/human and I get screwed over before I have a chance to fix it. Anyway, let me take you to the begin of this journey of mine.
I’ve had never heard of this game before. I wasn’t that into visual novels, if not at all. I did play Katawa Shoujo when it was only a one chapter demo years ago, and a few very short visual novels. But that was my experience with visual novels and I wasn’t too keen on them. It wasn’t until I was surfing on Youtube and I went to one of my favorite youtubers Cryaotic and saw him doing a playthrough of Dandelion – Wishes Brought to You with Dodger (the whole playthrough is on her channel presshearttocontinue). And I was sold.
The story begins with you being a senior in college in Busan named Heejung. Yeah, this game takes place in South Korea. Your life is pretty much a mess: mom is controlling it, you’re majoring in something you don’t give two craps about, and you are just lost about what to do in your life. Holy crap… That sounds like me (minus the college major part). But anyway, one night five animals just appear in your room and that is where the wooing begins.
Dandelion is just like any other visual novel. IT PULLS YOU IN AND CHEWS YOU TO A PULP AND SPITS YOU AND IT EXPECTS YOU TO FUNCTION AGAIN! I CAN’T! I’ve been trying to woo Jisoo and I have been doing a pretty good job at it. Except…
I haven’t been looking at the status screen. The status screen tells you if a certain status of femininity, beauty and art skill has been met for that person you are pursuing. You have many ways around your home to fulfill these statuses. You have one year to do so but you also have to worry about getting those hearts filled up too.
Each animal/human has a total of five hearts (the total equals to about 150). You need to fill them up by encountering them in your home (they have icons indicating where they are in the home (sometimes they are out of the home)) or by taking them out on a date.
Here comes the tricky part. If you do not have met the status requirements or filled up the hearts or BOTH, you are screwed. If you do not have met those requirements by an event, you meet Heejae. Heejae is your junior in college and he likes you but you don’t like him. He is your bad end. NO HEEJAE, I DON’T WANT TO WOO YOU!
Overall Dandelion – Wishes Brought to You is a great visual novel. Unfortunately the price on steam is stupid high. It’s $29.99. That price is not worth it for a visual novel, no matter how good the game is. I was fortunate enough to have some money in my paypal to knock down the price of getting it.
Dandelion – Wishes Brought to You score
4/5
